Saving Grace offers $25 adoptions this weekend

Sept. 13, 2022 12:45 p.m.

Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center in Roseburg will be hosting an animal adoption event this weekend and adoption costs will be reduced to just $25 for all pets.

The local shelter is teaming up with national animal welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society for the adoption campaign, which will run Friday and Saturday.

Saving Grace is open for adoptions Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon to 6:30 p.m.

Animal shelters across the country, including Saving Grace, have seen an increase in animal intakes and a decrease in pet adoptions, according to a release from the shelter. They’re encouraging residents to make a difference in an animal’s life by choosing to adopt, rather than purchasing a pet.

Saving Grace Executive Director Megan Gram says the increase is due to a number of factors, including lack of pet friendly housing and inability to access veterinary care.

Saving Grace is also looking for new foster families to help grow its ability to house more pets in need. Operations Director Courtney Davenport says if you’re not ready to adopt, “consider becoming a foster family first.”
