HEAT ADVISORY FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

September 8, 2022 9:20 a.m.

A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11:00 a.m. Friday through 11:00 p.m. Saturday for most of central Douglas County.

An Urgent Weather Message from the National Weather Service said an increased risk for heat illness is expected. High temperatures will be up to 104 degrees with lows in the mid 60’s.

The Advisory area includes Roseburg, Sutherlin, Elkton, Camas Valley, Azalea, Glendale and Tiller.

Smoke may impact the temperature forecast.

Forecasters said residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children, pets and the elderly should never be left unattended.

Those who work or spend time outside should take extra precautions. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or the evening. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
