The number of COVID-19 cases in Douglas County has dropped slightly.
Information from the Douglas Public Health Network said 142 new cases of the virus were reported in the week ending Wednesday. That is down from 159 cases reported in the previous seven-day period.
DPHN Public Information Officer Vanessa Becker said the number of people hospitalized related to COVID-19 has ranged between 7 and 12.
There were 2 COVID-19 related deaths in the last week. Becker said both people were in their late 80s and were not vaccinated. Since the start of the pandemic in January 2020, 424 local residents have died related to COVID-19.
