LIFESTYLE AND NUTRITION COURSE GOES HYBRID

August 22, 2022 3:10 a.m.

Starting Thursday, Umpqua Community Veg Education Group will begin the next round of the Lifestyle and Nutrition Course to impact a new cohort of participants, this time, in person.

For the first time in two years, participants will be able to meet together in the new Aviva classroom and teaching kitchen next to Costco. A virtual option will continue to maintain access for those living outside the local area or with transportation barriers. Since the launch of the virtual option, participants have tuned in from southeast Asia, Africa, Europe, Canada, across the country, regionally, and from around the county.

The UCVEG release said the 13-week, evidence based, disease prevention and reversal series has served over 3,300 participants. According to data from previous rounds of the course, health transformations are likely. That has included significant weight loss, a decrease in dosage or even discontinuation of certain medications, lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, improved mood, greater energy and vibrancy.

The release said over 75 doctors, medical providers and partners across the county are referring the course as a preventative measure and means to address the root causes of many illnesses.

There is no fee for the course. To sign up or get more information, go to: https://ucveg.org/activities-programs/course/register-here/

The Lifestyle and Nutrition Course is made possible by Umpqua Health Alliance, CHI Mercy Medical Center, Aviva Health, Thrive Umpqua, Oregon Humanities and other organizations.
