MOP UP WORK ON DFPA FIRES

Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association are working on mop up of fires in its district.

Public Information Officer Rachel Pope said on the Quiet Mountain Fire in the Camas Valley area, crews worked vigorously through the night and have completed 80 percent of mop up. The day shift will continue until its completed and will monitor the area.

On the Bear Mountain Fire on the Callahans, control lines help throughout the night while an infrared camera crew identified hot spots throughout the area. Day shift is performing mop up on identified areas, with the goal to obtain 80 percent completion by the end of their shift. An infrared camera will be brought in Saturday night to check for additional hotspots.

On the Dutchman Complex, in the mountains between Winston-Dillard and Riddle, 50 percent of mop up have been completed on one last active fire. Crews are working throughout the day to continue progress. Aerial reconnaissance continues throughout the day monitoring incidents, providing information from the air and scouting out any new reports of fire.

Pope said DFPA ground crews will continue to monitor and patrol. Residents who see new smoke in their area, should report it by calling 911.
