The Windigo Fire is 85 percent contained.
The latest update from Northwest Incident Management Team 10 said minimal fire activity continues. Crews continue to complete fire suppression repair to mitigate post-fire damages to cultural resources, protect road systems from excessive erosion, and mitigate hazard trees along roads to provide for firefighter and public safety. The Windigo Fire remains at 1,007 acres.
There is moderate fire behavior on the Potter Fire. Behavior decreased when temperature cooled due to cloud cover and precipitation. Burnout operations have been successful in bringing the fire safely toward established fire lines, resulting in an increase in total acres to 550. On the south and west flanks, firefighters are working to clear vegetation away from Forest roads 2154 and 2134 as contingency fire lines, and are monitoring and patrolling fire line along Forest Roads 2136 and 267.
The Big Swamp Fire is still at 121 acres, with minimal fire activity. It is 16 percent contained. Firefighters have strengthened the line along the east flank of the fire. Efforts to establish a fire line down the Middle Fork of the Willamette River may include installing a sprinkler system to connect an existing dozer line to the riverbank on the north flank near Forest Road 2153. Mop up operations continue on the south and western portions of the fire.
