A Roseburg man was jailed following an alleged assault on Friday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 4:15 p.m. a victim reported that she had been assaulted by the suspect in the 3000 block of Carnes Road. A deputy contacted the victim at CHI Mercy Medical Center and observed several fresh bruises along with a black eye. The victim said she had been kicked and punched.

The suspect was contacted and denied everything. He was charged with fourth-degree assault and held without bail.
