Crews on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest continue searching for new fires following recent storms.

Public Information Officer Margueritte Hickman said quick detection of holdover fires will be key in coming days and weeks as temperatures continue to hover in the upper 90s and triple digits with winds becoming gusty at times.

A new start was detected Wednesday night on the Klamath National Forest near Doe Peak. Forest staff is coordinating with partners to the south to provide additional resources.

Crews continue to be engaged on the Alex Fire on the Klamath National Forest and have been making good progress towards containment working under California Incident Management Team 10. The fire has been mapped at 151 acres.

Fire danger is classified as EXTREME on the RRSNF. Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are in effect which limit campfires to designated campgrounds and within campfire rings. There are also Stage 2 Fire Restrictions on the Wild and Scenic section of the Rogue River.
