HEAT ADVISORY EXTENDED THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT

July 26, 2022 3:00 p.m.

A Heat Advisory for central Douglas County has been extended through 11:00 p.m. Friday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said temperatures of 90 to 100 degrees are expected. Overnight lows will remain warmer than normal, between 60 and 65 degrees. Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses to occur.

An Urgent Weather Message from the NWS continues to urge residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Forecasters said residents should take extra precautions if they work or spend time outside. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air- conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

An Excessive Heat Warning is in place for the eastern Douglas County foothills, south central Oregon Cascades, Rogue Valley and for areas near the southern Oregon coast.
