HEAT ADVISORY MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT

July 24, 2022 4:40 p.m.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for central Douglas County from 1:00 p.m. Monday through 11:00 p.m. Thursday night.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said high temperatures of 90 to 100 degrees are expected. Overnight lows will be warmer than normal, mainly between 60 and 65 degrees.

Forecasters said hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses to occur.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Never leave children and pets left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.
