Covering coastal Douglas County:

The City of Reedsport Main Street Program is receiving $200,000 in matching funding for roof and electrical improvements to six commercial buildings in downtown Reedsport.

Deputy City Recorder Courtney Davis said this is part of $5 million in matching grants to cities around the state that are part of the Oregon Main Street Network through Oregon Heritage, a division of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. Twenty-eight grants were issued for building projects that encourage economic revitalization.

Davis said in Reedsport the money will be used as matching funds for roof and electrical improvements to six commercial buildings in the downtown area.

The grant program was created during the 2015 legislative session. The program also requires that at least fifty percent of the funds go to rural communities as defined in the bill.
