Sunrise Enterprises has announced the recent hiring of Jim Wilson as Chief Executive Officer, to oversee the direction and leadership of the organization.

A release said the mission of the nonprofit is to support the growth and employment of those in Douglas County with disabilities.

Sunrise said Wilson graduated from the Oregon Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree and has an extensive background in executive management, consulting, program management and direct management of technology, operations and logistics teams. The release said Wilson has been a member of the executive leadership teams of several successful companies. In addition, Wilson has founded successful companies of his own.

Sunrise said while assisting his daughter, who teaches and specializes in special education and inclusion-based programs for her students, Wilson’s admiration for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities blossomed. The release said the passion that grew for assisting those individuals to enrich their lives and enhance their life skills is what led Wilson to Sunrise.

Wilson said, “I am honored and privileged for the opportunity to be the CEO of Sunrise Enterprises. Sunrise has a long and successful history of helping people with disabilities in Douglas County”. Wilson said he looks forward to working with the Board of Sunrise, the team of employees and the Douglas County community “…to continue and grow the great mission that Sunrise Enterprises stands for”.

Sunrise was founded in 1969 with the purpose of providing employment opportunities and skill building to people with disabilities. Serving over ninety people with disabilities throughout the county, Sunrises uses its wood products mill, retail locations, janitorial, landscape, and retail transportation sectors as a training ground for those with disabilities and provides employment supports to individuals who seek work elsewhere in the community. In addition, Sunrise offers innovative and educational community inclusion activities to those who are retired or have chosen not to work.
