Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an assault that allegedly occurred Sunday near the 7,000 block of Melqua Road in the Melrose area, and are asking for assistance in solving it.

Lieutenant Brad O’Dell said shortly before 5:00 a.m., deputies were advised of a man in the emergency department at CHI Mercy Medical Center who had reportedly been assaulted. O’Dell said the victim, 25-year old Bryce Watson of Winston, sustained injuries during the incident. Watson was transported to Legacy Emmanuel Medical Center in Portland for further treatment.

O’Dell said deputies learned the incident occurred in an area commonly referred to as Long’s Ranch, and there were witnesses to the incident. Deputies are asking anyone who is a witness or may have information to call DCSO at 440-4471.

O’Dell said the incident remains under investigation.
