BIKE MONTH BEING CELEBRATED IN MAY

May is National Bike Month and a number of activities are taking place around Roseburg.

A release from Thrive Umpqua said events include:

*Walk and Roll to School Week is this week and National Bike/Walk to School Day is Wednesday. Those who bike, walk or roll to school any day this week can be entered to win prizes. Log activity at: http://bit.ly/BikeWalkWeekDoCo

*Umpqua Velo Club is hosting easy bike rides on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. This is for grandparents, grandkids, new riders, riders who haven’t been on a bike in years, or those who just want a slower pace. Rides begin at the train in Stewart Park. Helmets are required.

*Thrive Umpqua and Umpqua Velo Club will offer bike and dine rides on select Thursday nights. Check the group’s Facebook event page for the route.

*The grand opening of the Cooper Creek Mountain Bike Trail is set for May 14th. Festivities will begin at Cooper Creek Reservoir at 12:00 p.m.

Partner organizations for these events also include Bike Walk Roseburg, Douglas ESD Safe Routes to School, the City of Roseburg Parks and Recreation Department and LUMBR.
