COMMISSIONERS ISSUE PROCLAMATION FOR ADOPT A SHELTER PET DAY

April 29, 2022 3:40 a.m.

On Wednesday, Douglas County Commissioners issued a proclamation in honor of Adopt a Shelter Pet Day.

A County release said the day is celebrated on April 30th each year, and was created to raise awareness for the millions of animals waiting for their forever homes, in shelters across the United States. The proclamation also applauded the work that local pet shelters, animal rescue organizations, and rehabilitation centers do to rehome and care for homeless, abandoned, abused and rescued animals.

Organizations that were part of the presentation include Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center, Strawberry Mountain Mustangs Rehabilitation Center and the Reedsport K9 Shelter.
