A transient was jailed following an alleged resist and assault incident early Sunday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 12:15 a.m. a deputy contacted individuals in a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Rueben Road in south county, as he knew that 29-year Tyler Abercrombie was staying under a bridge the car was parked by, and that the suspect had a felony warrant.

The report said the group was sleeping so the deputy knocked on a window and another occupant of the vehicle woke up and talked with him. The deputy noticed a female passenger was sitting in a man’s lap awkwardly, covering his face and head. The deputy recognized the woman and realized the man she was covering was the suspect he was seeking.

The deputy walked to the other side of the vehicle and talked with the suspect about being compliant. Eventually deputies opened the door of the vehicle and attempted to get Abercrombie out and off the woman, who herself was not being cooperative. The suspect reportedly grabbed hold of two of the deputy’s fingers and twisted them. Ultimately a taser was deployed and the man was taken into custody.

Abercrombie was charged with resisting arrest, assault on a public safety officer and for the warrant. He was detained without bail. The deputy will be referring charges on the woman for hindering.
