MAN CITED FOR INCIDENT UNDER TRAIN TRESTLE

Roseburg Police cited a man after an incident under the train trestle at Deer Creek Park on Wednesday.

An RPD report said at 8:30 a.m. an officer observed a transient driving in the area of 200 Southeast Pine. The officer told the 33-year old that he was in an unauthorized area and had to leave. The suspect, Joshua Jake, said he needed to drive in to where his camp was so he could clean it out before a work crew got to it, but he was directed not to.

The report said Jake intentionally drove out into the grass and his spinning rear tries tore two very large ruts into the ground, which were about one hundred feet long, as he sprayed a large amount of mud through the green park grass. The officer ran after the suspect who allegedly made a quick turn in the grass in an attempt to make it back up the other side of a small hill. Jake made additional ruts in the grass as he continued to spin his tires. The officer was eventually able to get the man to stop.

Jake was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, driving while suspended-violation and for driving uninsured. He was released after being cited. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
