The Roseburg Rotary Club has partnered with the American Red Cross to begin a month-long blood drive to help replenish the nationwide blood supply during an ongoing shortage.

Information released Wednesday said the partnership was born from the shared belief that both organizations can make a profound difference by increasing the fragile blood supply in our communities.

The “District Drives to Save Lives” campaign began Tuesday and will run through April 28th.

The Roseburg Rotary Club release said for every blood donation as many as three lives can be saved.

The month-long blood drive is described as a unique service project because it is also a competitive district-wide event to recognize clubs that schedule the most blood donations.

Based on club membership size, the three clubs that generate the most blood donations will be recognized on April 30th at the District 5110 Celebration Conference in Corvallis.

The Red Cross has generated a unique code for each Rotary Club district.

Interested blood donors can register online, or through the Red Cross smartphone app, and set up a blood donation appointment.
