WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR MOUNTAIN AREAS

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 11:00 a.m. Sunday for mountain areas in southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said the Advisory area includes the south central and southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains, including Crater Lake and Diamond Lake.

Forecasters said moderate snow above 5,000 feet is expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are forecast. Winds will gust 30 to 40 miles per hour in exposed areas.

Drivers should plan on slippery road conditions. Periods of heavy snowfall with rates of 1 inch per hour are possible, mainly late Saturday evening through Sunday morning.
