FIRE AT RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE SUNDAY NIGHT

February 21, 2022 10:20 a.m.

Crews from the Roseburg Fire Department extinguished a fire at a residential structure on Sunday night.

Fire Chief Monte Bryan said they were dispatched to the fire in the 800 block of West Rainbow Street just before 6:25 p.m. Bryan said the fire was reported by residents of the duplex in front of the structure.

Bryan said firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke and flames showing. Upon investigating, firefighters found the fully involved structure that was impinging on the main duplex. Along with getting the fire out, crews kept it from spreading to nearby structures. Bryan said the resident was able to safely exit the home without injuries.

15 firefighters assisted at the scene. Douglas County Fire District No. 2 and other agencies were at the fire, as well.

Bryan said the cause of the fire was a candle that was too close to combustibles.
