DOUGLAS COUNTY REDISTRICTING FINISHED

February 21, 2022 10:00 a.m.

The redistricting of precinct lines has been finished for Douglas County.

County Clerk Daniel Loomis said each decade, the completion of the United States Census triggers the Oregon State Legislature to consider new House, Senate and Congressional District lines. Loomis said despite numerous delays due to the pandemic, the legislature adopted Senate Bill 881 A and 882 which drew new district lines in September. That action then triggered Oregon’s 36 counties to begin the process of considering and making adjustments to voting precinct lines in each of their counties.

Loomis said the new precinct lines were drawn by the Douglas County Geographic Information Systems Specialist and the clerk’s office following directives from the Oregon Secretary of State.

From 2011 to 2021, the county had 28 distinct voting precincts. Moving forward, the county will have 29 voting precincts. Voters can access the interactive online maps at: https://tinyurl.com/ye28un9b. With the map, residents can type in their address, and it will identify the Precinct and House, Senate, and Congressional districts for their address.

Loomis said with the adjustments to the process now finalized, voters desiring to serve as Precinct Committee Persons are encouraged to file for the May election. There are currently 347 PCP positions available per each political party. Candidates can file online at: https://douglascounty-oregon.us/QuickLinks.aspx?CID=42
