Registration is open for the “Spring into Gardening” educational course on Saturday March 12th at Phoenix School on Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard in Roseburg.

A release said it is organized by the Oregon State University Extension Service Douglas County Master Gardeners and will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. The one-day blitz of gardening classes is for those who are eager to pick up new knowledge and skills.

The course begins with a talk on using native plants to restore biodiversity in the yard. More instructors will then offer a choice on topics in each of four sessions. Each session is 75 minutes long.

The release said gardening topics include managing vertebrate pests, principles of xeriscaping, growing berry crops, gardening soils and many more.

Lunch is scheduled from 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Those attending should bring their own lunch and snacks. Water and coffee will be provided.
