A 56-year old man was jailed after a police chase led to a crash on Sunday.

A report from Sutherlin Police said after three pursuits originating in Roseburg throughout the day, a car was heading northbound on Interstate 5 near the Winchester exit at an estimated 120 miles per hour when officers discontinued their pursuit at about 3:30 p.m.

A few minutes later the car was again located, tailgating another northbound vehicle, two miles south of Sutherlin. Sutherlin officers initiated a fourth traffic pursuit at speeds up to 117 miles per hour. Near the Drain and Elkton exit, spike strips were deployed, and the vehicle crashed into the center median and the suspect was taken into custody.

The report said the driver refused medical attention at the scene and was taken to CHI Mercy Medical Center so officers could gain clearance to have him housed at Douglas County Corrections, where he again refused treatment.

Joseph Todisco was charged with attempting to elude officers in a vehicle, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving, driving under the influence of an intoxicant, and for driving while suspended. Bail was set at $185,000.

The vehicle had heavy front-end damage and was impounded.
