The Umpqua Fishery Enhancement Derby is underway through Saturday.

Activities began with “Student Day” on Wednesday in the Rock Creek Watershed. Thursday is “Kid’s Day” at Cooper Creek Reservoir.

Thursday night derby registration opens with a “Meet and Greet” for guides and anglers from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Food and beverages will be provided.

Fishing of the North, South or mainstem of the Umpqua Rivers will take place Friday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A crab feed runs Friday night from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Umpqua Fisherman’s Association oyster bar in Douglas Hall at the fairgrounds. An awards ceremony will happen Saturday night at 5:00 p.m. with pizza and beverages, also in Douglas Hall.

The Fish Derby Banquet will be rescheduled for a future date. The fundraiser typically generates over $100,000 each year for watershed enhancement work, fish-rearing projects and outdoor education activities in the Umpqua Basin.
