COUNTY PARKS REMAIN WITHOUT PARKING FEES

Douglas County’s parks remain without parking fees.

A release from the Board of Commissioners said the fee for day use parking and the annual parking passes were terminated in May of 2021. That was after the County Budget Committee determined that the Park’s Department’s budget had reached a level of self-sustainment several weeks ahead of the start of the 2021/2022 fiscal year.

The release said the department reached their self-sustainment budget goal through increased revenues, productive investments and operational efficiencies. The day use parking fees were originally implemented in July of 2015, as a temporary revenue source to assist the department in their quest to achieve self-sufficiency after general found dollars from the county were reduced to zero.
