5 more people have died related to COVID-19 in Douglas County, 945 more people have received new positive test results, and 104 more are presumptive, as of Wednesday.
The Douglas County COVID-19 Weekly Update covered data reported from January 20th through Wednesday.
The new deaths include:
*A 61-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on December 30th and passed away on January 20th
*An 84-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on January 2nd and passed away on January 22nd
Delayed deaths include:
*A 71-year old woman who passed away on December 30th and tested positive post mortem on January 5th
*A 71-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on October 3rd and passed away on December 12th
*A 53-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on October 17th and passed away on December 4th
County officials were notified of the delayed deaths by Oregon Vital Records this week. None of the 5 who died were vaccinated. The total number of local deaths related to COVID is now at 327.
The Update said the total number of cases is now at 17,030. Of those, 16,287 are people who have received positive test results and 743 are presumptive. 32 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 26 locally and 6 outside the area. In the past week, CHI Mercy Medical Center averaged 2 COVID-19 positive patients a day in the Intensive Care Unit and 4 in the Progressive Care Unit. 21 of the 32 hospitalized patients are not fully vaccinated.
