DRIVER HOSPITALIZED AFTER COUGHING LEADS TO WRECK

A driver was hospitalized after uncontrollable coughing led to a single vehicle accident on Wednesday.

An Oregon State Police report said at 8:30 a.m. the Coos Bay woman was in a westbound SUV on Highway 38, just west of Scottsburg. While coughing, she lost control of the vehicle which left the roadway and a hit a large rock approximately 15 feet down the embankment. The driver was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport for evaluation.

The SUV had to be towed from the scene.
