On Sunday, the Oregon House Democratic caucus nominated Representative Dan Rayfield of Corvallis, to serve as Speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives, and elected Representative Julie Fahey as Majority Leader.

A release from the Oregon House Democrats said the election follows the decision by Speaker Tina Kotek to step down as Speaker and Representative Barbara Smith Warner to step down as Majority Leader.

Speaker Kotek, the longest-serving Speaker in Oregon history, will move away from the legislature on Friday. Representative Warner Smith, who became Majority Leader in 2019, will continue to represent House District 45.
