CITY COUNCIL HOLDS FIRST MEETING OF 2022

January 11, 2022 9:30 a.m.

The Roseburg City Council held its first meeting of the year on Monday night.

Mayor Larry Rich gave the State of the City Address talking about the accomplishments of the past year. Bob Cotterell was chosen as Council President when Mayor Rich broke a 4-4 tie. Councilor Shelly Briggs Loosely had nominated Cotterell while Councilor Brian Prawitz nominated Andrea Zieleinski. With each getting the same number of votes, Mayor Rich cast a vote for Cotterell. Rich said since Zielinski didn’t beat the incumbent, he would leave Cotterell in that role.

Councilors that serve as commission chairs will continue their assignments. Mayor Rich appointed Councilors Bev Cole and Patrice Sipos to serve on the Medcom Board. Councilor Cotterell will continue as the Veteran Services Liaison while Councilor Briggs Loosely remains a member of the Homeless Commission. Commission appointments were announced as well.

Five-year contracts were awarded for the Axon interview room and for architectural, engineering, planning and consulting services at the Roseburg Regional Airport.

The meeting lasted just over 45 minutes and was held via Zoom.
