MAN WAS BRIEFLY JAILED AFTER THREE POLICE CONTACTS

A Roseburg man was briefly jailed as part of three police contacts in less than 24 hours.

A Roseburg Police report said Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. the 67-year old was sleeping on a couch inside a business in the 2400 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway. Employees wanted the suspect to leave and he was given multiple opportunities to do so. The man ultimately refused to leave and was physically escorted off the property. He was cited for second-degree criminal mischief and then released due to COVID-19 restrictions at the Douglas County Jail.

Saturday at about 1:00 a.m. officers contacted the man again in the 2200 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway after he was reportedly causing a disturbance inside another business. Dispatch advised the man had 3 warrants for his arrest from the Eugene Police. He was jailed for the warrants but then later released.

Saturday at 9:00 a.m. the suspect was contacted in the 500 block of Southeast Lane Street. He was cited for second degree theft on a prior case involving a stolen cell phone and then was released.
