Roseburg Police have jailed a suspect following a shooting incident in the 2,000 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway on Thursday night.

Sergeant Daniel Allen said at about 7:30 p.m. officers from RPD, Sutherlin Police and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of the incident. Sergeant Allen said an investigation revealed the shooting stemmed from a conflict between two individuals who appear to be known to each other. There is no ongoing threat to the public.

Sergeant Allen said the victim sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect has been taken into custody. The Douglas County Jail website lists 24-year old Jackson Cotton as being held for first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, being a felon in possession of a firearm and for a parole violation. Cotton is jailed without bail.

Sergeant Allen said the investigation is still active and more information will be released when it is available.
