FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING

January 5, 2022 2:30 p.m.

A Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday morning for central Douglas County and nearby areas.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said a series of fronts is bringing periods of moderate to heavy rain totaling 2 to 6 inches of water over much of southwestern Oregon into Wednesday. Snow levels will rise during this time period, leading to the melting of the lower elevation snowpack across the area. This will lead to rapid rises on area streams, creeks and rivers, as well as possible flooding during this time.

1 to 2 inches of rain already fell since Monday, with an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain will lead to the possibility of localized flooding.

Those who live in flood prone areas should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
