Stormy conditions are leading to power outages around the region.

As of 5:00 a.m. Douglas Electric Cooperative has over 500 members without power. Assistant General Manager Phil Bigler said those are primarily in the Reedsport and Gardiner areas due to heavy winds. Bigler said crews have been working in those areas through the night and will continue to do so until power is restored. Smaller outages are affecting the Elkhead, Hogan Road and Driver Valley areas.

Staff at the Coos County Sheriff’s Office said that area is experiencing severe winds and weather. Numerous trees are down and approximately 10,000 homes in that county are without power.
