There are a number of closures Friday, as many government offices and other organizations observe New Year’s Day, a day early since it falls on Saturday.

Most federal, state, county and city offices are closed. However regular mail will be delivered. Some banks and credit unions will not be open while others may close early. The stock market remains open. Many professional offices will be closed, while most retail stores stay open though some will close early.
