MAN JAILED FOR ALLEGED ASSAULT

A Roseburg man was jailed for an alleged assault on Sunday.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy was dispatched to the incident just before 6:00 p.m. in the 5000 block of Northeast Stephens. A victim had a large purple colored lump protruding from the eyebrow area. The victim said the suspect had knocked her backwards and started stomping on her face and hitting her with his hands. The victim claimed that at one point she was unable to breath and couldn’t see out of her right eye.

The victim was taken to CHI Mercy Medical Center for treatment. The suspect admitted to knocking the victim out of her chair and stomping on her head and throat. The 28-year old man charged with third-degree assault and strangulation. Bail was set at $56,250.
