A downtown Roseburg home is no longer habitable, following a fire on Wednesday afternoon.

Fire Marshal Brian Jewell of the Roseburg Fire Department said crews were dispatched to the fire in the 800 block of Southeast Chadwick Street just after 2:50 p.m. Jewell said dispatch had received multiple calls of smoke and flames showing from the residence. A caller said that someone might still be inside the home.

Jewell said firefighters arrived on the scene to find the single family, two-story house with heavy fire and smoke showing from the north side of the structure. Firefighters conducted a primary search and found one unconscious female inside the home. She was taken from the house and transported by ambulance to CHI Mercy Medical Center.

Jewell said firefighters then did a secondary search and made an interior attack to extinguish the fire, secure utilities and complete overhaul. 3 residents were displaced due to the blaze. The American Red Cross was notified to assist them.

Jewell said 15 firefighters and along with  number of other agencies assisted at the scene.

The home sustained extensive structural and water damage. Fire investigators said the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
