Myrtle Creek Police jailed a man following a pursuit incident on Sunday.

An MCPD report said at about 11:15 p.m. an officer attempted to stop an SUV for a traffic violation near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Main Street.

The driver of the vehicle, later identified as 39-year old Thomas Baraby of Roseburg, continued onto Interstate 5 northbound and accelerated, reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour. Baraby left the freeway at exit 113 and continued onto Clarks Branch Road.

The report said the suspect then turned onto Roberts Creek Road. An officer pursued the vehicle until it came to a stop at the dead end of Melton Road in Dixonville. Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene and assisted in taking Baraby into custody without incident.

He was charged with elude in a vehicle, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, driving while suspended-misdemeanor and for a warrant. Baraby was detained without bail.
