Winter weather advisories are in effect for central Douglas County and nearby areas through 9:00 a.m. Thursday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said up to 2 inches of snow is forecast above 2,000 feet, with 2 to 3 inches above 3,000 feet. This includes Canyon Mountain Pass on Interstate 5 between Roseburg and Grants Pass. Snow is possible below 2,000 feet in any heavier showers that move through.

A Winter Weather Advisory for the southern Oregon Cascades including Crater Lake and Diamond Lake, forecasts 3 to 6 inches of snow, with winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour in exposed areas.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility at higher elevations.
