Winter Weather advisories are in effect for much of southern Oregon.

Forecasters for the National Weather Service said central and southern Douglas County has a Winter Weather Advisory in place from 8:00 a.m. Wednesday to 8:00 a.m. Thursday above 2,000 feet, with 1 to 4 inches of snow expected. 4 to 8 inches of snow is forecast for areas above 3,000 feet. Winds are slated to gust as high as 45 miles per hour in exposed areas. The Advisory area includes Canyon Mountain on Interstate 5 between Roseburg and Grants Pass.

For the south-central Oregon Cascades including Crater Lake and Diamond Lake, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect between 7:00 a.m. Wednesday and 10:00 a.m. Thursday. 6 to 12 inches of snow is expected with winds gusting up to 60 miles per hour.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility at higher elevations. Strong winds could cause tree damage.
