A Roseburg woman died in a single vehicle crash near Winston on Thursday morning.

Lieutenant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said shortly after 8:00 a.m., dispatchers received reports of an accident in the 3400 block of Willis Creek Road. O’Dell said deputies arrived on the scene to find an SUV approximately 10 feet off the eastbound shoulder of the road. Fire and EMS personnel determined that the driver, 23-year old Samantha Cole had died in the wreck.

Deputies said that Cole had been traveling northbound, when for an unknown reason, the vehicle went off the roadway striking a tree. The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact DCSO at 440-4471.
