An investigator says combustible materials placed too close to a woodstove resulted in a house fire in Roseburg on Wednesday

Fire Chief Monte Bryan of the Roseburg Fire Department said at about 9:55 a.m. personnel responded to a reported structure fire in the 1700 block of Southeast Eddy Street. Bryan said the caller had arrived home and found the structure on fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the eaves of the roof at the single-story home. Bryan said firefighters completed a primary and secondary search and determined that all occupants were out of the home. During the primary search, one dog was rescued. The fire was quickly extinguished and overhaul was completed. Bryan said the fire was contained to the living room.

The residence sustained structural and water damage. 3 adults and 3 dogs were displaced, but no one was injured in the fire. The American Red Cross was notified and is assisting the residents.

17 firefighters responded to the scene. A number of other agencies also came to help.
