Tuesday morning, Mike McCarter, president of Citizens for Greater Idaho is scheduled to submit signatures to the Douglas County Clerk’s office, to force the Greater Idaho proposal onto the county’s ballot in May of 2022.

The group seeks to allow rural counties in southern and eastern Oregon to become part of the state of Idaho. Legislatures in both states and the U.S. Congress would ultimately have to approve the idea, before it could go into effect.

McCarter said he will present signatures gathered locally to Douglas County Clerk Daniel Loomis at 11:00 a.m.
