A southeast Roseburg home sustained extensive structural and water damage in a fire on Friday afternoon.

Fire Chief Monte Bryan of the Roseburg Fire Department said personnel responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Southeast Fullerton Street at about 12:45 p.m. A caller said a bed was on fire inside the home and smoke was showing from the back-bedroom windows. Bryan said firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing in the rear of the single-family residence.

Crews made immediate entry for a possible rescue and completed a primary search of the structure. An interior attack was then made by firefighters, who found the fire and extinguished it. The primary and secondary search found no victims and overhaul was completed. Firefighters were able to protect several surrounding homes and structures from damage. Bryan said one adult was displaced by the fire, but no one was injured. The American Red Cross responded to assist the resident.

Bryan said the fire remains under investigation but appears to be accidental in nature. 21 firefighters assisted with the effort. Douglas County Fire District No. 2 and a number of other agencies assisted at the fire.
