SHOP WITH A COP HAPPENING SATURDAY

December 3, 2021 3:20 a.m.

On Saturday, uniformed officers and support staff from local law enforcement agencies will be volunteering their time to help provide a brighter Christmas for 29 foster children in Douglas County.

The annual Shop with a Cop will be held at the Roseburg Walmart from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

A release said the children are paired up with a police officer and given money to buy Christmas gifts for their families. The officers help the children pick out gifts for their family members and then help wrap them. Before leaving, each child is given their own gift and a stocking filled with goodies from Santa.

Shop with a Cop is fully funded from local donations. Christmas for Kids of Douglas County and Doby Fugate were noted for their generous donations to help make the event possible.

Law enforcement agencies schedule to participate in Shop with a Cop include Oregon State Police, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, police departments in Roseburg, Sutherlin, Winston and Myrtle Creek, Cow Creek Tribal Police and Douglas County Community Corrections.
