A Dillard man was jailed after an elude and taser incident with Winston Police and other agencies on Sunday night.

A WPD report said at about 7:20 p.m. an officer attempted to stop a pickup near the intersection of Main and Douglas for a traffic violation. The vehicle allegedly failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued towards Interstate 5 at about 75 miles per hour. The pickup then entered the freeway going the wrong way. The pursuit was immediately terminated.

The report said a witness called and said the pickup had exited the freeway at Roseburg’s Harvard Avenue exit and then parked at a nearby business. An Oregon State Police trooper spotted the driver walking away from the vehicle. The trooper and Roseburg Police officers attempted to stop the suspect, who fled on foot.

The report said after a short foot pursuit, a taser was deployed and the man was taken into custody. He was identified as 22-year old Joey Dingus. The suspect was found to have a concealed loaded Glock handgun on his person when he was taken into custody.

Dingus was charged with attempting to elude in a vehicle and on foot, being a felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, reckless driving and for reckless endangering. A parole violation charge was added. Dingus was held without bail.
