A Eugene man was cited for second-degree theft by Roseburg Police on Tuesday.

An RPD report said on October 4th, the 31-year old allegedly made a large purchase at the self- checkout machine of Walmart, in the 2100 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway. The suspect allegedly failed to scan over $215 worth of items in his cart and told employees he was just having trouble with the machine, when they stopped him from leaving the store. The man did pay for $220 worth of other items in his cart, but allegedly left the scene after learning that police had been alerted.

The suspect was contacted Tuesday afternoon just before 1:30 p.m. and given a citation, before being released.
