FORD’S POND COMMUNITY PARK OPEN HOUSE

November 23, 2021 4:00 a.m.

Staff with the City of Sutherlin will host an open house where the public can learn more about the design of upcoming projects and improvements at Ford’s Pond Community Park.

A release said this will include an inclusive playground, ADA restrooms, amenities and path improvements.

The park is located on the west side of Sutherlin. The 202-acre open space park is one-mile west of Interstate 5 and is adjacent to Highway 138W. Staff said the park is popular for hiking on the 1.75-mile pond perimeter path and the hillside trails leading to sweeping views of the nearby valleys. Bikes and leashed dogs are welcome. Ford’s Pond was created in the 1950’s for commercial log storage. Now the 95-acre pond offers boating and fishing for bass, crappie, and catfish.

The open house will be held at the Sutherlin Community Center on South Willamette on Thursday December 2nd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
