The Douglas County Board of Commissioners have announced that the lighting of the Douglas County Christmas Tree will take place on Saturday November 27th at 6:00 p.m.

The family friendly event is free and open to the public.

The ceremony is a collaborative effort between the Board of Commissioners, the City of Roseburg, Downtown Roseburg Association and First Christian Church. The festivities include a family-oriented program with music, the annual reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and a visit from Santa Claus. First Christian Church will have their traditional nativity scene on display, across the street from the courthouse, with refreshments available.

A County release said residents are encouraged to stroll through downtown Roseburg to see the festive storefronts and Christmas Lights while visiting local stores and restaurants.

The release said the live giant Sequoia tree that was planted last year on the front lawn of the courthouse has turned brown and will be replaced soon. Once the new tree is installed, Douglas County Building Facilities staff will work on adding lights to the tree and turning the courthouse and the Justice Center into a festive holiday display.
