The Roseburg City Council approved proposed compensation changes for City Manager Nikki Messenger, at its meeting Monday night.

Following its recent annual evaluation, councilors agreed to give Messenger a monthly raise of just under $400, to $13,704 per month, effective September 1st. That is a 3 percent increase, in-line with other management employees.

Councilors approved a resolution accepting a $59,000 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration to be used towards debt service at the Roseburg Regional Airport. Other resolutions approved included authorizing a supplemental budget establishing appropriation authority to transfer American Rescue Plan Act funds for the current fiscal year, amending the circulation policy at the Roseburg Public Library, and canceling the second regular council meetings this month and in December.

Mayor Larry Rich proclaimed Thursday as Veterans Appreciation Day and encouraged residents to attend the annual parade in downtown Roseburg. Rich also urged citizens to participate in the observance of the Roseburg Elks Lodge #326 125th anniversary.

The meeting lasted just over 40 minutes.
