COUNCIL CONSIDERS COMPENSATION INCREASE FOR CITY MANAGER

November 8, 2021 3:45 a.m.

The Roseburg City Council will consider a compensation increase for City Manager Nikki Messenger as part of its meeting Monday night.

The council reviews the city manager’s performance on an annual basis. At the conclusion of its annual evaluation the council has the opportunity to adjust the manager’s salary and contract. Three items have been proposed:

*A 3 percent cost of living increase, consistent with other management employees

*Reimbursement of work-related, personal legal expenses

*An adjustment to the contracted severance payment for termination without cause, or if resignation is requested by council, including continued insurance benefits for 6 months or until re-employed, whichever is earlier

The city manager’s current monthly salary is $13,305. A 3 percent adjustment would increase it to $13,704 effective on her anniversary date of September 1st, 2021.

Councilors will vote on resolutions including:

*A supplemental budget establishing appropriation authority to transfer American Rescue Plan Act funds in the current fiscal year

*Amending the circulation policy for the Roseburg Public Library

*Canceling the second regular council meetings for November and December of this year

Other items are on the agenda as well.

The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. It can be seen on the city’s Facebook page and viewed later at www.cityofroseburg.org.
